To ensure that all undergraduate students make appropriate progress toward completion of a degree, new first-time students are required to enter a degree-granting program by the end of their third semester of enrollment (excluding summers) and new transfer students are required to enter a degree-granting program by the end of their second semester of enrollment at Indiana University-Bloomington (excluding summers).
IU Exploratory, Pre-Business, Pre-Nursing, and Pre-Social Work students will receive an Entering a Major registration hold if they have not entered their major within the above timeline.
If you have the Entering a Major hold, no enrollment is allowed for the next term until you meet with your assigned advisor or another Advising & Major Exploration Services advisor and develop a feasible plan for entering a major within the upcoming term. During your appointment, you and your advisor will discuss your degree progress and create a feasible plan to enter a major.
